New “Short Trek” Teased with Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn as Spock and Number One
It seems as though we might be getting a new “Short Trek” featuring Spock and Number One.
TrekMovie brought us the story last week that director Mark Pellington posted two pictures on Instagram that implied he’d just finished filming a “Short Trek” with the two Enterprise crewmembers. Both posts are no longer present on Pellington’s timeline, but as with all things, the internet never forgets. One post featured a photo with the director with his arms around Romijn and Peck, and the other featured a picture of a Star Trek: Discovery-branded clapper board with the episode title “Chaos Theory”.
There’s been no confirmation of the story from CBS All Access yet, although TrekMovie is quick to point out that Star Trek czar Alex Kurtzman himself failed to deny that we would see the Enterprise crew again. In an interview with Deadline’s “Crew Call” podcast, Kurtzman responded to the question of whether we would see Pike, Spock and Number One again by saying, “the idea of bringing Ethan [Peck] back, and Anson [Mount] and Rebecca [Romijn] and the Enterprise, I mean, we loved it so much, that to find a way to do that is definitely something we’re thinking about a lot.”
In that same interview, Kurtzman explained that there are actually six “Short Treks” in the works - two of which will be animated - and that we’d see them sometime before Discovery season 3.
