MAY 3, 2022 - This is the week we’ve all been waiting for. It’s been almost two years to the day since CBS announced the return of Captain Christopher Pike, Spock, and Number One to the bridge of the USS Enterprise following their adventures in season two of Star Trek: Discovery.

We’ve been teased with interviews, key art, trailers, and more since then. Finally,  Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premieres this week, with the first episode of the 11th Star Trek television series.  In that episode, also called “Strange New Worlds,” when one of Pike’s officers goes missing while on a secret mission for Starfleet, Pike has to come out of self-imposed exile. He must navigate how to rescue his officer, while struggling with what to do with the vision of the future he’s been given.

“Strange New Worlds” was written by Akiva Goldsman, based on a story by Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet. Goldsman also directed the episode.

In the stills we see Pike (Anson Mount), Spock (Ethan Peck), and Number One (Rebecca Romijn), of course. We also get shots of T’Pring, played by Gia Sandhu; Ortegas, played by Melissa Navia; Uhura, played by Celia Rose Gooding; and Pike’s predecessor, now Admiral Robert April, played by Adrian Holmes.

The premiere episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds drops this Thursday, May 5, on Paramount+ and on Crave/CTV Sci-Fi in Canada.
