Believe it or not, I’m someone who is very proud of their fandom. But one of my common complaints is finding high-quality, classy apparel that lets me and my family show off our love of Star Trek in a way that also works well with our personal style. Don’t get me wrong, I love a graphic tee as much as the next person, but outside of that, the choices of licensed merchandise is limited.

Enter Cufflinks.com, who have created a good-sized collection of officially-licensed Star Trek accessories, including ties, tie bars, money clips, and (of course) cufflinks. When the team over there got in touch and offered to send me a tie to review, I jumped at the chance.

I tested out the Enterprise Flight Blue Stripe Men’s Tie. It’s 100% silk and retails at $58.00 (although Daily Star Trek News fans can get a discount - more on that later).

This tie is stylish, it feels great, and it’s definitely something I would be proud to give as a gift to a tie-wearer in my social circle. It’s classy in that it shows off your Star Trek fandom without being in-your-face, and the next time we’re allowed to get together for work parties, it’ll certainly be a conversation starter.

The Enterprise Flight tie is navy blue, with a diagonal azure-colored double stripe. It’s a slim tie, cut a bit narrower than a standard tie (but not skinny), and it looks really modern. Just above where your jacket would button, the stripe breaks with an azure silhouette of the U.S.S. Enterprise - no bloody A, B, C or D. The 100% silk material feels soft but not slippery, with a gentle shine that creates texture, but doesn’t look cheap.

I would highly recommend Cufflinks.com’s Enterprise Flight tie to any tie-wearers who want to zhuzh up their classy work attire with a subtle bit of fandom. It will also make a really great gift this holiday season.
