Sir Patrick Stewart, Katie Holmes star in Coda, now streaming
In case you missed it, and you probably did: Sir Patrick Stewart recently starred in an independent film with Katie Holmes, called Coda. Coda tells the story of Stewart’s aging pianist, struggling with stage fright, who finds help in the form of a young music critic played by Katie Holmes. Coda was released on February 1st and is currently available on all major streaming services, including Amazon Prime Video.
In addition to Stewart and Holmes, Coda also features Giancarlo Esposito, recently seen as Moff Gideon in Disney+’s The Mandalorian. The film is directed by Claude Lalonde.
Sadly, the film’s reviews have not been wonderful. Of the very few reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, Coda so far has scored a mere 40%. About the nicest thing Variety could muster, in its review, was “Patrick Stewart and Katie Holmes are well cast in this predictable yet compelling drama”.
Nonetheless, Star Trek fans desperate for a Patrick Stewart fix in between episodes of Star Trek: Picard, might find Coda a nice 96-minute distraction.
