SkyShowtime To Launch Across Europe With Star Trek
NOVEMBER 14, 2022 - “Look…up in the sky…it’s…a starship!”
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Prodigy are going where no Paramount+ original Trek series has gone before…Europe. Paramount Global is taking its streaming strategy in Europe with two different fronts. Paramount+ is launching in most of the biggest markets, covering about half of Europe’s total population. For the rest of the continent, Paramount is partnering with Comcast for the SkyShowtime joint venture streaming service which includes some Star Trek content, but not everything that is included in Paramount+. The service has already launched in a few countries with more coming in December and into 2023.
SkyShowtime is already available in the Nordic countries, the Netherlands and Portugal. When it comes to new Paramount+ Star Trek shows, the service includes the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the first half of season one of Star Trek: Prodigy. What will not be included, however, is Star Trek: Discovery. A spokesperson for SkyShowtime confirmed that it hasn’t acquired this title from the franchise. Nothing is known at this time if it will become available in the future.
As for the other Treks from Paramount+, Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Picard, will continue to show on Amazon Prime Video throughout Europe. Only the currently released content of the latest Star Trek episodes will air, which means season one of SNW and the first half of season one of PRO will be included with the service at this time. It is believed that those episodes will show up on the service after the season wraps up in December, however, this has not been confirmed.
SkyShowtime is also launching a limited selection of legacy Star Trek content, currently offering all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as four Star Trek feature films: Nemesis and the three Kelvin-era JJ Abrams Trek films. The Spokesperson further shared that available titles are subject to change and can vary between different countries.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds stars Rebecca Romijn (Number One) and Ethan Peck (Spock) were in Amsterdam for the SkyShowtime launch event.

Albania, Czech Republic, Hungary, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia will all be getting SkyShowtime in February of 2023. Launches in Spain and Andora are also planned for 2023.
SkyShowtime is priced at €6.99/month in European countries that use the Euro. It is priced at SEK 79 in Sweden, NOK 79 in Norway, and DKK 69 in Denmark.
