UPDATE: We Now Know Where All the Star Trek Films Went
Most of the STAR TREK films have left Parsmount+.
OCTOBER 26, 2022 - Paramount+, the final frontier. This is where you’ll find the voyages of the USS Enterprise. Or, at least, the televised adventures.
In early October subscribers were scratching their heads faster than a targ with a phaser burn as the first ten Star Trek movies (TOS & TNG) exited the streaming service. Now DSTN has discovered that they have landed on the HBO Max streaming service (or the HBO premium cable network).
Beginning on November 1, HBO will have all ten films, including the recent Director’s Cut of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Paramount+ still offers two Star Trek films: 2009’s Star Trek, and 2013’s Star Trek: Into Darkness. 2016’s Star Trek Beyond is still streaming on AMC+. The move is part of a previously agreed licensing deal that was in place before the launch of Paramount+ in 2021.
We can be assured that when all existing deals expire, the entire movie library will warp back over to Paramount+ where it will become, as intended, the source for all Star Trek content. Like most of us, we’ve become accustomed to the ease of streaming, but likely we also have DVD copies on our shelves, so if we don’t want to subscribe to another service, we can dust off those discs and play them the old-fashioned way until they all set a course back home.
