Star Trek: Discovery’s Jayne Brook talks to Dr. Mohamed Noor in BioTrekkie with the Admiral

JANUARY 11, 2021 - Star Trek science adviser Dr. Mohamed Noor is kicking his BioTrekkie Explains! YouTube show up a notch.

Dr. Noor has teamed up with Star Trek: Discovery’s Admiral Cornwell, actor Jayne Brook, for a new limited series discussing science using episodes of Discovery season three. In a statement, Dr. Noor said the videos will be “less about explaining scenes in Discovery episodes and more about using on-screen depictions as springboards to teach interesting real-world biology.” The new series, BioTrekkie with the Admiral, will feature Dr. Noor talking to Brook about biology, as well as Brook teaching Dr. Noor about acting and production.

In an introductory video to the series, Dr. Noor and Brook tell the story of how they met and became friends. It started with a lecture at DragonCon, and they found a common connection through Duke University in North Carolina. Dr. Noor is a professor there in the Biology Department, and it’s Brook’s alma mater (where she studied Biology for all of a semester).

BioTrekkie with the Admiral is live with its introductory episode and first full episode now, on Dr. Noor’s YouTube channel, BioTrekkie Explains! New episodes are due to air on Sundays at 8am PT.
