Star Trek Trivia Night w/Ottawa Pops Orchestra - Thursday, August 5th
First up, the Ottawa Pops Orchestra out of actual Canada is hosting a Star Trek trivia night on Thursday, August 5th at 7pm ET. They say of the night, “Bring your crew, set phasers to ‘fun’, and come flex your knowledge of all things Star Trek.” Any and all Trekkies are welcome, and this will be a virtual event over Zoom, so if you’re free, and you like trivia, you should register and attend. The event is no cost, but they will accept donations to the orchestra.
For more information, including how to join in, visit Ottawa Pops Orchestra on Facebook.
iBUG Trekkie Talk - Thursday, August 5th
If any of you are blind or visually impaired, you might be interested in iBUG Trekkie Talk, a group that watches audio-described episodes of Star Trek and then meets virtually to discuss them. iBUG Trekkie Talk is part of the iBlind Users Group, which aims to support the visually impaired community through accessible technology training.
The Trekkie Talk group reviews episodes on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 8pm CT, and is open to everyone. To find out more, including how to participate, visit ibugtoday.com/trekkie-talk.
GalaxyCon Live: Deep Space Nine Virtual Experience - Saturday, August 7th

Treklanta on the Holodeck - Saturday, August 7th
Running pretty much all day on Saturday, August 7th, Treklanta on the Holodeck is a free virtual Star Trek convention hosted by Georgia-based Treklanta. Guests of honor on the day include J.G. Hertzler, David Gerrold, Keith R.A. DeCandido and Lt. Jae herself, Tracee Lee Cocco.

55-Year Mission Tour Las Vegas - Wednesday, August 11th
And finally, and it breaks my heart to say this because I won’t be there...the convention formerly known as STLV starts next Wednesday, August 11th, in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you do happen to be venturing out to the 55-Year Mission Tour this year, please do be mindful of the new, enhanced COVID-19 restrictions, meant to mitigate the risk of contracting the Delta variant of the virus. And please, for the love of Spock, get vaccinated.
The regular stuff
