GalaxyCon Columbus: Friday, December 2 – Sunday, December 4

L.A. Comic Con: Friday, December 2 – Sunday, December 4

Wil Wheaton (Sat & Sun), LeVar Burton (Sat & Sun), William Shatner (Sun), Scott Grimes (Sat & Sun), and Greg Grunberg (Sat & Sun) are scheduled to appear this weekend at the con, taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center. More information is available at L.A. Comic Con.

Wales Comic Con: Saturday, December 3 – Sunday, December 4

George Takei, Malcolm McDowell, Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, and Mark Sheppard are headed to Telford, in the UK, for Wales Comic Con: Telford Takeover. The con is happening at the International Centre, and all the details are at Wales Comic Con.

Explore Mars: Nami Melumad: Wednesday, December 7

Star Trek: Prodigy and Strange New Worlds composer Nami Melumad will be featured on a webinar hosted by Explore Mars, next Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. ET. Melumad and moderator Amy Imhoff will discuss the challenge and pressure of writing musical scores for the Star Trek franchise as well the growing influence of female composers in the traditionally male-dominated profession of film and television scoring. Portal 47 7th Anniversary Open House: Wednesday, December 7

Dr. Trek Larry Nemecek’s deep dive website into all things Trek turns 7 years old this week, and he’s hosting an open house to celebrate. Stop by at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 pm ET for a roundtable open mic, door prizes, and a special guest, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Ira Steven Behr. You can check out all the details at larrynemecek.com.

The Regular Stuff

·These are the Twitter watchalongs:

o   #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

o   #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

o   #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

·Then there’s Star Trek: Watch Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Teleparty browser extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Watch Party on Facebook.

·Speaking of a Star Trek watch party: the iBlind Users Group hosts Trekkie Talk on the first and third Thursdays of every month. They watch an audio descriptive version of a Star Trek episode and get together virtually to discuss it. To find out how to join in, visit ibugtoday.com/trekkie-talk.

·But wait, there’s more watch partying: Club IDIC hosts a weekly watch party and discussion at 6pm Alberta Time every Friday. The schedule and Zoom links are available at the Club IDIC Facebook page.

·To Proudly Go, a New York-based nonprofit, will be hosting Star Trek: Prodigy season two viewing parties each Saturday. The gatherings begin at 6:00pm ET at the Barracuda Lounge in New York City. Tickets are free, and vaccination is required. The viewing parties / fundraiser benefits also include Star Trek trivia games, special Star Trek-themed drag performances, two-for-one drinks, fabulous Star Trek prizes, and merchandise. ·Virtual Trek Con presents The Main Viewer every Tuesday - a live discussion show on YT with occasional special guests and an open chat geared towards fan interaction.

·Disco Does DnD - livestream DnD game with DSC actors on Twitch, every Sunday at 1pmPT/4pmET.

· Join Grey Havens Philosophy and Outworld Brewing every first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. as they discuss the big ideas inspired by Star Trek. The gatherings are at Outworld Brewing, in Longmont, Colorado. Attendance is free, but an RSVP for planning purposes is appreciated at Eventbrite.

·And finally, there’s Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website. They meet twice monthly on the first Tuesday and third Friday of every month, with occasional pop-up meetings with Sid as his schedule allows. ·Ongoing through November 27, the American Helicopter and Museum & Education Center is hosting the Star Trek Screen-Used Props and Costumes Exhibit and Speakers’ Series. Visit AHMEC for the details.
