Star Trek events: Thursday, July 23rd - Wednesday, July 29th, 2020
Mark your calendars - for TODAY!

Mark your calendars - for TODAY!

The big event this weekend is Comic-Con. While the San Diego con was cancelled this year, they’re still putting on Comic-Con@Home, a five day long event featuring virtual panels and a virtual vendors’ hall, all free and in the comfort of your own home. There are a few hotly anticipated Star Trek events on, so I’ll give you just a few.

Star Trek Universe panel, Comic-Con@Home - Thursday, July 23rd

The Star Trek Universe is coming back to Comic-Con with a virtual event to rival last year’s big Hall H panel. The event kicks off with a Star Trek: Discovery table read, followed by a panel with the cast of the upcoming Star Trek: Lower Decks (including a first look at the season premiere), and finally, a panel with the cast of Star Trek: Picard.

The Star Trek Universe panel beams down today, Thursday, July 23rd, at 10am PT.

All the Starfleet Ladies - Thursday, July 23rd

If you’re up for a discussion of how Star Trek writers treat the legacy of women in their novels, then tune into the “All the Starfleet Ladies” panel next. StarTrek.com managing editor Kendra James will moderate a panel including authors Una McCormack and Cassandra Rose Clark, journalist Swapna Krishna, and Saga Press publicity manager L.J. Jackson.

All the Starfleet Ladies warps into Comic-Con@Home, also today, Thursday, July 23rd, at 12 noon PT.

The Science of Star Trek: Three Generations of Advice - Thursday, July 23rd

Rounding out Thursday’s programming is a special panel with “Dr. Trek”, Larry Nemecek. He’s hosting three of Star Trek’s science advisers to talk about how (or if) how Star Trek talks about science has changed in the last few decades. Larry is joined by Naren Shankar (science adviser on TNG and now showrunner of The Expanse), Andre Bormanis (science adviser on TNG, Deep Space Nine and Voyager and now co-executive producer on The Orville), and Dr. Erin Macdonald (science adviser for all of current Trek iterations).

The Science of Star Trek: Three Generations of Advice materializes this evening, Thursday, July 23rd, at 5pm PT.

The Psychology of Star Trek vs. Star Wars - Friday, July 24th

The Psychology of Star Trek vs. Star Wars is up next, where pop culture psychologists debate psychological aspects of our favorite Star series.

The Psychology of Star Trek vs. Star Wars lands tomorrow, Friday, July 24th, at 2pm PT.

For more on all those panels, you can check out the full schedule of events at comic-con.org.

GalaxyCon Live: Star Trek: The Next Generation - Saturday, July 25th
