Star Trek events: Thursday, July 9th - Wednesday, July 15th, 2020
The weather is warming up, but the schedule of virtual Star Trek events isn’t cooling down. Here’s some to look forward to this weekend:
Shore Leave Con 41.5 - Friday, July 10th - Sunday, July 12th
Shore Leave Con is back! The in-person Shore Leave Con 42 was postponed, but the organizers have taken it virtual with Shore Leave 41.5, taking place this Friday, July 10th, through Sunday, July 12th. The schedule is packed with panels, including one on Friday night featuring my friend Amy Imhoff on a panel with Trek authors Dayton Ward and John Jackson Miller, among others, discussing what to expect in the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

GalaxyCon Live: William Shatner - Saturday, July 11th
Then on Saturday, July 11th, at 12pm ET, William Shatner will be appearing on GalaxyCon Live. As per usual, tickets are free but required, and if you so desire, you can also purchase one-on-one video chats, shout outs and autographs.
Visit galaxycon.com for more.
Klingon Day of Honor - Saturday, July 11th
Also on Saturday, July 11th, with a full day of scheduled programming, it’s the Klingon Day of Honor. Star Trek Online, Modiphius (makers of Star Trek Adventures), Hero Collector (aka Eaglemoss) and Clear Skies (the Star Trek Adventures RPG group) are teaming up for the Klingon Day of Honor, streaming live on Twitch. Appearing on the day are, among others, Star Trek designer Rick Sternbach, Star Trek Online Lead Ship and UI Artist Thomas Marrone, and Klingon actors Mary Chieffo, J.G. Hertzler and Robert O’Reilly.

Tribble Talk by Science Division - Sunday, July 12th
Then on Sunday, July 12th, at 7pm ET, Science Division, makers of official Star Trek app-enabled tribbles and the organizers of CONnected Community Con, are hosting another Tribble Talk, a casual Zoom-based conversation with a member of the Star Trek fan community. This week, Tribble Talk will feature Star Trek fan and shark keeper, Kira Knotts, leading a casual discussion about how or if we see ourselves in Star Trek, and how or if that’s changed in recent times. The Zoom link will be posted shortly before the event starts on Sunday evening, so make sure you’re following Science Division on social media for more information.
The regular stuff
Finally, some stuff I’ve told you about before that are still going on:
These are the Twitter watchalongs:
#allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.
#TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of the Original Series every week, and
#StarTrekHour is a Q & A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.
Then there’s Star Trek: Netflix Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Netflix Party Chrome extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Netflix Party on Facebook.
If you have an online event or gathering you’d like me to promote on the show, let me know! How are YOU getting together with your fellow Trekkies, without leaving the house?
