However you spell it, May has some great Star Trek events to note on your calendar

StarFest: Friday, May 13 – Sunday, May 15

Brent Spiner, Terry Farrell, Michelle Hurd, Dr. Erin Macdonald, and Star Trek authors Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore will be appearing at StarFest this weekend. Farrell, Ward, and Dilmore will also be part of the Friday night meet-and-greet. StarFest is happening at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center in Denver, Colorado. After a 45-year run, this will be the last StarFest Denver, so take advantage, if you can. All the details are at StarFest Denver.

FANEXPO St. Louis: Friday, May 13 – Sunday, May 15

William Shatner (Sunday), Ron Perlman (Saturday), and Mark Sheppard (Saturday and Sunday) will be appearing at FANEXPO St. Louis. The convention is taking place at America’s Center Convention Complex, in St. Louis, Missouri. Check out FanExpoHQ for more information.

Days of the Dead Chicago: Friday, May 13 – Sunday, May 15

Doug Jones and Malcolm McDowell will be among the horror folk at Days of the Dead, taking place at the Crowne Plaza O’Hare, in Rosemont, Illinois. Head over to Days of the Dead for all the skinny.  

The Regular Stuff

  • These are the Twitter watchalongs:

    • #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

    • #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

    • #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

  • Then there’s Star Trek: Watch Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Teleparty browser extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Watch Party on Facebook.

  • Speaking of a Star Trek watch party: the iBlind Users Group hosts Trekkie Talk on the first and third Thursdays of every month. They watch an audio descriptive version of a Star Trek episode and get together virtually to discuss it. To find out how to join in, visit ibugtoday.com/trekkie-talk.

  • But wait, there’s more watch partying: Club IDIC hosts a weekly watch party and discussion at 6pm Alberta Time every Friday. The schedule and Zoom links are available at the Club IDIC Facebook page.

  • To Proudly Go, a New York-based nonprofit, will be hosting Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1 viewing parties each Saturday. The gatherings begin at 6:00pm ET at the Barracuda Lounge in New York City. Tickets are free, and vaccination is required. The viewing parties also include Star Trek trivia games, special Star Trek-themed drag performances, two-for-one drinks, fabulous Star Trek prizes, and merchandise.   • Virtual Trek Con presents The Main Viewer every Tuesday - a live discussion show on YT with occasional special guests and an open chat geared towards fan interaction.

  • Disco Does DnD - livestream DnD game with DSC actors on Twitch, every Sunday at 1pmPT/4pmET.

  • And finally, there’s Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website. They meet twice monthly on the first Tuesday and third Friday of every month, with occasional pop-up meetings with Sid as his schedule allows.
