JULY 15, 2022 - This past Monday, the Television Academy dropped the list of the nominees for the 2022 Emmy Awards, and Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds both turned out to be contenders, with 5 nominations between them.

PIC scored nominations in four categories, including:

  • Outstanding Period And/Or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic)

    • Episode: “Hide and Seek”

  • Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup

    • Episode: “Hide and Seek”

  • Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes

    • Episode: “Penance”

  • Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour)

    • “Penance”

SNW, meanwhile, was nominated for only one category, going up against its sister show:

  • Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour)

    • Episode: “Memento Mori”

Typical for the franchise, all of the nominations were in the Creative Arts categories. Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Lower Decks, both of whom received nominations last year, missed out this year. Star Trek: Prodigy still has a shot, though, being eligible for the Children and Family Emmy Awards, which won’t be announced until later in the year.

The 74th Emmy Awards, which will be hosted by Curb Your Enthusiasm’s JB Smoove, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Melissa Fumero, and Television Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma, will be held in a live virtual event on Monday, September 12 at 5:00 pm EST on FXX
