The Band Is Back Together: A Spoilery Look At the Return Of the Star Trek: The Next Generation Cast
MARCH 24, 2023 - March 24, 2023 – The band is fully back together! Star Trek: Picard began the second half of the final third season with episode 6 “The Bounty.” The last of the Next Generation family finally joined the fray.
It was long wait for this fan, as Geordi LaForge has always been my favorite TNG character. Seeing him call Picard Jean-Luc was priceless. He was the smartest man in the room and IN CHARGE! And hats off to Terry Matalas for making us believe that Lore was the person Spiner was playing, (Well, he didn’t actually lie to us.) Well played, Mr Matalas, well played.
But as usual, the deeper we get into this final season, the more we want more! And, at least one Legacy character is up for the mission.
Promoting his (FINALLY) appearance on The View, LeVar Burton was chatting with his long-time friend, Whoopi Goldberg, along with his daughter Mica, who also plays his on-screen daughter Alandra La Forge. (It’s hard to believe that Ashlie Sharpe Chestnut [Sindey] is not a Burton)
Whoopi Goldberg shared how the fans are dreaming of and demanding a spinoff series that would include legacy characters like Geordi La Forge along with new characters like Alandra and Sidney. The Burtons were quick to jump in, letting us know that they are “down” for a spinoff. Burton shared his thoughts:
What the writers have done is they have really set it up well. You have got the next generation of The Next Generation. The La Forge sisters, one’s an engineer, the other’s a pilot. We’ve got Jack Crusher, Seven of Nine. It makes a whole lot of sense.
So, indeed it seems that the La Forge family is ready for a spinoff
