The Director’s Edition of STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE arrives on blu ray this September

JUNE 8, 2022 - According to a new report from StarTrek.com, the first six films in the Star Trek franchise will be made available on Blu-ray beginning September 6th. Each film will be presented in 4k Ultra High Definition for the ultimate in-home viewing experience.

Following the success of Star Trek: The Motion Picture: The Director’s Edition in 4k, the release of all six films featuring the original Star Trek cast in the same format is coming just two days ahead of Star Trek Day, September 8th. Each year, fans happily celebrate the onscreen birth of the franchise on the day of its 1966 premier. This year, you can hold a 4k, classic Star Trek film festival in your very own living room!

Also available on September 6th, Star Trek: The Motion Picture: The Director’s Edition arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in a standalone package. Unique to this film, The Director’s Edition has been updated with Dolby Atmos tuning. A bonus disc is included, filled with numerous special features from Paramount Home Entertainment. The first film in the franchise will also be released in a Limited-Edition Collector’s Set entitled “The Complete Adventure,” which includes the new Director’s Edition, the theatrical cut, and a special longer cut all on 4K Ultra HD along with special features on Blu-ray.

This comprehensive 15-disc collection featuring the first six Star Trek films on Blu-ray will be in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision and HDR-10. Both Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country are making their 4K Ultra HD debuts.  The set also includes access to Digital copies of each of the six films, as well as hours of new and legacy bonus content.
