The Honest Trailer for Galaxy Quest says it’s one of the “best Star Trek movies in decades”

It’s unofficially official: Galaxy Quest is one of the best Star Trek movies ever!

A piece from Comicbook.com this week highlighted the new Honest Trailer for Galaxy Quest, in which the claim was made. Honest Trailers are created by Screen Junkies, who also produced Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary, so they know what they’re talking about. The Honest Trailer for Galaxy Quest debuted last month as a special feature during Never Surrender’s limited theatrical release.

The Comicbook.com piece notes that “despite being an homage to Star Trek and not an official part of the franchise, fans voted it one of the best Star Trek movies of all time above about half of the other movies in the franchise during a convention polling event.” They’re a little vague as to exactly which convention polling event they refer to, but speaking as a regular convention-goer, it’s my experience that Star Trek fans regularly vote Galaxy Quest into one of the top slots, so this news is hardly news to me.
