SEPTEMBER 23, 2021 - Following news in August that production had wrapped on the long-awaited third season of Seth MacFarlane’s Star Trek-alike show The Orville, the show finally has a release date...and a new name?
Multiple social media accounts, including the official The Orville account, producer Tom Costantino, director Jon Cassar and series creator MacFarlane, all posted a new teaser trailer which revealed that season three will arrive on Hulu on March 10th, 2022.

In the 51-second teaser, we see a slow zoom into an empty Orville bridge, with a selection of dialogue clips as voiceover. Then, suddenly, the bridge goes to red alert, with voices indicating a battle. The teaser ends dramatically, “You will surrender or you will die.” The ending placard then reveals the show’s new subtitle, “New Horizons”, and the premiere date.
The Orville’s third season has been long-awaited, after production was interrupted by COVID-related shutdowns in early 2020. But production resumed in December of last year with enhanced COVID protocols, and finally completed in August.
The Orville season three will air exclusively on Hulu from March 10th, 2022. In the meantime, you can catch up on all of seasons one and two, now streaming.
