Today in Star Trek history: Star Trek: The Next Generation “Unification I”
It was today, November 4th, back in 1991 that the Star Trek: The Next Generation season five episode “Unification I” first aired. The first of a two-part story, “Unification I” earned record-high viewing figures for the series, credited largely to the appearance of Leonard Nimoy as Spock.
“Unification I” was followed by the story’s conclusion in “Unification II” the following week, and it’s worth noting that the upcoming seventh episode of Star Trek: Discovery season three is entitled “Unification III” - although at this point, we don’t have any indication whether the plot will be a continuation or simply borrows the name. “Unification III” is due to air on CBS All Access on Thursday, November 26th (Thanksgiving here in the United States), and on Friday, November 27th internationally.
