Two Video Games Release Major September Events
SEPTEMBER 14, 2022 - The Star Trek Day announcements continue this week, and lest you gamers out there were feeling slighted, Star Trek Online and Star Trek Timelines have your back.
Wicked Realm Games and Tilting Point announced in a press release the month-long celebrations underway as part of their RPG, Star Trek Timelines, featuring giveaways, sales, in-game events, and more.
To honor the enduring legacy of diversity, inclusion, and hope in Star Trek, Star Trek Timelines is bringing to players through September 30 such features as a free 5-Star Crew giveaway honoring Nichelle Nichols, a Star Trek Originals “Pathfinder Uhura,” and a month-long event to gain more copies; five free crew slots and a free fleet boss battles currency and energy pack for all players; a new addition to the Honor Hall, Valeo Beta V Hemmer; and a long-awaited Honor Sale.
In addition, Gearbox Publishing and Cryptic Studios also announced in a press release for Star Trek Day the details for Star Trek: Ascension, the next chapter in Star Trek Online’s Mirror Universe story arc. As you might have seen last week, a new trailer revealed Mirror Wesley Crusher as the Terran emperor, voiced by Wil Wheaton. In the new episode, “Eye of the Storm,” things have escalated in the Mirror Universe, as the Terran emperor is attempting to control The Other, the Mirror version of V’ger. In order to stop the Terran Emperor from threatening both the Prime and Mirror Universes, the Federation will need to stop him from controlling The Other, all while fighting off his forces led by the dreaded Captain Killy, voiced by Mary Wiseman. Players team up with Admiral Leeta, voiced by Chase Masterson.
Star Trek Online: Ascension also introduces new content for players to discover, including a new 5-player ground TFO “Storm Chasers” and the new Elite Officer Upgrade System that allows players to upgrade bridge officers. Captains can also play through the latest event, “The Emperor’s Will,” to earn a new reward, the T6 Terran Somerville starship.
Ascension releases today on PC at Star Trek Online, and will release for consoles on a later date.
