William Shatner, Alex Kurtzman and Whoopi Goldberg to be among recipients of 18th annual NATPE Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award
APRIL 21, 2022 - Roll out the red carpet! In June, Star Trek legends Whoopi Goldberg, William Shatner, and Alex Kurtzman will be honored at the 18th annual Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award from the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE). Honorees were announced online earlier this week, and will be awarded June 2nd at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Los Angeles.
Named for the late television executive Brandon Tartikoff, the Legacy Awards were designed to “recognize an elite group of professionals who exhibit extraordinary passion, leadership, independence and vision in content programming.” Recipients of the award come from across the industry including actors, showrunners, specialists in marketing and publicity, developers, and television executives. Aside from Star Trek talent, this year’s honorees include comedian Amy Poehler, television host Maury Povich, Warner Bros. Television Group Chairman Channing Dungey, and television programmer and producer Jeff Sagansky.
Formerly a virtual event, NATPE President and CEO JP Bommel reflected on the move to Los Angeles for the awards ceremony, saying, “Bringing the Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award to Los Angeles for the first time is a milestone moment for NATPE [...] This event is such an important part of our mission, and to have it make its return — in person, with such an accomplished group of creatives and executives being honored — is something we are very proud of.”
The 18th annual Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Awards will be presented at the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles, June 2nd at 5:30 pm PT. For more information about the National Association of Television Program Executives, and the awards ceremony, visit natpe.com.
