Wilson Cruz to fans waiting for Star Trek: Discovery season three: “Patience, grasshopper”

If you’ve been (im)patiently waiting for Star Trek: Discovery season three, then I’ve got news for you! And that news is...you’ll have to wait a while longer. According to Scott Gamzon, an editor on Discovery, the production team is still working on the show, but they’re not done yet.
Discovery was in post-production when California issued a state-wide shelter-in-place order due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19. In March, Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz confirmed that while post-production was continuing as the team worked from home, it would be “a little longer”. Then on Friday, Star Trek on CBS All Access tweeted about the trailer for season three, asking fans, “What are you most excited to see in Season 3?” Even though the trailer was an old one that was originally released at New York Comic Con last October, the tweet led at least one fan to ask whether a release date was imminent.

Twitter user Joseph Dickson (@joe4ska) tagged Cruz and Rapp when he retweeted Star Trek, asking, “Have they announced it yet?” Cruz replied, “Trust me, none will hesitate giving you a release date as soon as they can. Everyone is working hard on post production as we speak. Patience, grasshopper.”
Then Gamzon chimed in, saying, “Post production, Sound, VFX and Editorial are all hard at work from our homes. It’s going to take longer and there have been challenges but the results will be worth the wait!”

It’s worth repeating, of course, that there has been no official word on the release of Star Trek: Discovery season three, nor on the release of Star Trek: Lower Decks, which should theoretically also be nearing completion. In March, creator Mike McMahan said that the first of the modern crop of animated Star Trek shows was still on schedule, whatever schedule that might be.
