Star Trek: Picard has joined the ALL IN Challenge. For the next month, by making a contribution to fight food insecurity, you can be in with a chance to win a walk-on role on the latest installment of the Star Trek franchise.

Star Trek on CBS All Access posted a video yesterday featuring executive producer Alex Kurtzman and Picard himself, Sir Patrick Stewart. Together, they announced the sweepstakes, for which the ultimate prize is the full walk-on treatment: hair and makeup, meet the cast and crew, and your chance to be an official part of Star Trek canon. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing, which I suspect you are.

Funds raised through this event will be donated to benefit Meals on Wheels, No Kid Hungry, America’s Food Fund, World Central Kitchen and Feeding America. From the ALL IN Challenge website: “The ALL IN Challenge aims to be the world’s largest digital fundraiser in history by raising tens of millions of dollars to feed those in need. [...] Through the newly created ALL IN Challenge, sponsored by the All In Challenge Foundation, the world’s preeminent sports, music and entertainment figures will donate their most prized possessions and be challenged to create once-in-a-lifetime experiences that will be both available for online auction and as giveaways. [...] Together, the ALL IN Challenge will hopefully raise tens of millions of dollars to tackle this problem [of food insecurity] head-on.”

Making a contribution to the All-In Challenge earns you a fixed number of entries. $10 gets you 10 entries, $25 gets you 25 entries, and if you make a contribution of $50 or more, you get an even better chance! $50 buys you 100 entries, and $100, the top tier available, gets you the top allowed: 200 entries. The event is open now, and closes on July 22nd. The set visit and walk-on role will happen sometime “later”, by mutual agreement, and obviously, once production resumes and it’s safe to do so. Sadly, this event is only open to residents of the United States who are 18 years old and up, and does not include travel and accommodation.
