32nd century playable ships come to Star Trek Online with the Janeway Class Command Science Vessel
MARCH 4, 2021 - Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have announced a new promotional campaign for its massively multiplayer online roleplaying game Star Trek Online, and it starts today, March 4th. Promotions are not uncommon for the game, but this time, players are being offered the chance to win a Tier 6 Janeway Class Command Science Vessel, as seen in Star Trek: Discovery as the Voyager-J. It’ll be the first 32nd century ship in the game.
The first ship of the 32nd Century to arrive in Star Trek Online will be the Janeway Class Command Science Vessel. Best exemplified by the Voyager-J, this new ship class will be available for you to command on PC very soon!https://t.co/wHIdKqEECj pic.twitter.com/GXJqs1B9ZK

You may be thinking to yourself, “Wait a minute. On Discovery, the Voyager-J is introduced as an Intrepid class vessel, like the original, not a Janeway class.” And you would be right in thinking that. But, I promise you, it’s the same ship, and it’s got some pretty awesome capabilities. To start, the Janeway class ship is specifically outfitted to serve not only as a science vessel, but as a fleet command ship as well. Other upgrades include enhanced shields and restorative circuitry, an advanced cloaking system, 32nd century phasers, and much more! Oh yeah, it also has a PHOTONIC CANNON! A nice nod to The Doctor’s imaginary superweapon of the same name, from the Star Trek: Voyager season six episode, “Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy”.
So what is it going to take to win your own Janeway class vessel? Just purchase a new Duty Officer Pack or a Research and Development Pack between 8am PT today, March 4th, and 10am PT on Thursday, March 25th. Once the pack is opened, you’ll get either 10 Lobi Crystals or your choice from a number of special prize ships. You can either grab the Janeway class, or if you’ve had your eye on one of the older ones, like the La Sirena Heavy Raider from Star Trek: Picard, or the Discovery-era Constitution class, you can grab one of those instead. And of course, you’ll also get what you originally bought: the R&D or Duty Officer pack.
Both the R&D packs and Duty Officer packs are available from the C-Store, the in-game store that takes Zen, which you can buy with real-world money. As an incentive, if you buy these packs between now and next Monday, March 10th at 10am PT, you’ll get an extra 20% off, and you can also buy multiple packs at a discount too.
