Funko releases new vinyl POP! figures based on Star Trek: The Original Series
JULY 29, 2021 - Funko has released several new POP! Vinyl figures featuring Star Trek: The Original Series, including several “Mirror Universe” characters and fan-favorites such as Khan and “The Gorn”. The new vinyl figures along with a selection of POP! TOS themed t-shirts are now available for purchase. News of their release came to us by way of an updated report from The Trek Collective.
New additions to the TOS set include vinyl figures of Captain Kirk seated in the Captain’s chair, Khan, the Gorn, and “Spock With Cat”. That’s Spock (obviously) holding Isis the cat, as seen in the episode “Assignment: Earth”.
New Mirror Universe figures are also available, including Captain Kirk, Uhura, Sulu, and Spock. Now, some of you out there may be thinking “Funko already released a Spock figure, set in the Mirror universe.” And you would be right! But this new version of Mirror Spock is more screen accurate than the 2014 release, with greater attention to the detail of Spock’s uniform, his boots, even his facial hair.
The expansion to Funko’s TOS collection of POP! figures is the first addition since 2014. More than doubling the size of the collection, the new figures bring the total number of TOS pieces to fifteen.
If you want to get your hands on the new range of Original Series POP! vinyl figures and the new t-shirts they released to go with them, you’ll probably have to purchase from multiple vendors to complete the set. Currently, the Gorn vinyl figure is exclusively available from Target. Meanwhile, the TOS POP! T-shirts and the “Spock With Cat” figure are only available for purchase through Funko. All remaining pieces from the summer release are available from our affiliate partners Entertainment Earth.
