Hero Collector Releases Star Trek Online Starship Models, Including Ship Honoring Aron Eisenberg
Back on Monday, I told you about news out of Destination Star Trek this weekend, of a mass of new starship models being released by collectibles brand Hero Collector. Today, I have more details about the two Star Trek Online-exclusive models they announced in their panel at the convention.
Star Trek Online is a free-to-play, massively-multiplayer online role-playing game, in which players can earn or buy ships to play in. Star Trek Online has teamed up with Hero Collector to bring some of those starships to life.
First up, the Gagarin-class Federation Battlecruiser. This beautiful, sleek model was released in game last year to celebrate Star Trek: Discovery.
And then there’s the Chimera-class Federation Heavy Destroyer, which many fans, not just Star Trek Online players, will be pleased to see. According to Star Trek Online lore, the U.S.S. Chimera was commanded by Captain Nog, the first Ferengi to join Starfleet. The Chimera-class is being released as a tribute to Deep Space Nine actor Aron Eisenberg, who played Nog in the series, and who recently passed away.
Both ships have been been recreated in die-cast, using high-quality ABS materials, and each model is hand-painted.
The Gagarin- and Chimera-class ships join the U.S.S. Enterprise-F model from Star Trek Online, which was released this past spring. More Star Trek Online ship models are expected to come in the future.
