AUGUST 29, 2022 - The penultimate episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1 featured one of the most alien characters the Star Trek franchise has ever seen. Buckley (a nickname given him by the little girl he protects) has an untranslatable language and is from an unknown species. Carlos Albornoz, the actor inside the cumbersome costume, describes putting the helmet on as “like being inside Iron Man.”

I had the opportunity to talk with him about his relationship with the character, how he and the puppeteers who made the unique costume move worked together, and what he wants the writers of SNW to know.
