Marina Sirtis’s wig in Star Trek: Picard is one she stole from Nemesis
Star Trek: Picard episode 7, “Nepenthe”, came out yesterday on CBS All Access here in the States, and it’s out today in other locations worldwide. In “Nepenthe”, we see Picard reunited with a couple of familiar faces: Will Riker and Deanna Troi, his former first officer and ship’s counselor.
But it won’t be just Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis’s faces that look familiar! Yesterday on Twitter, TrekCore pointed out that Sirtis’s hair and contacts looked just like they did when we last saw her in Star Trek: Nemesis...because they were literally the same hair and contacts, which Sirtis had kept. In the tweet, TrekCore linked to an interview they did with Sirtis and Brent Spiner back in January, along with the caption, “In #StarTrekPicard, Marina Sirtis wears the same Troi wig that she sported in ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’ back on [sic] 2002.... because she stole it from the film set, and had it on hand when called back to the franchise in 2019.”

Sure enough, in the January article, Sirtis recounted the story herself. After she was cast in Picard, she called and said “You do know that I wore a wig and black contact lenses?” Fortunately, Sirtis had - in her words - “stole them” from the set of Nemesis, so they were cleaned and used in the new series, 18 years after that film came out.
Sirtis further explained that it was lucky she’d kept the wig and contacts, saying, “They wouldn’t have had time to make a $10,000 wig, and I was in England doing a play anyway; I wrapped [the play] on a Saturday and was at Universal [in Hollywood] on Monday, having traveled from England on Sunday.”
Of course, you can see the wig and contacts in action for yourself in episode 7 of Star Trek: Picard, now streaming.
