MEME REVIEW MONDAY: A Vulcan Bodybuilder, History According to STAR TREK, and a Hairy Manicure

Daily Star Trek News Presents Meme Review Monday, January 8, 2024.

Hello and welcome to the FIRST MEME REVIEW OF 2024!! I know you’re all super excited so without further ado let’s jump right into it!

First up we have a meme from @Emm_Initiative on X

I’ve been seeing a lot of memes about the Bell Riots and this one definitely takes the cake. It’s simple and uses a well known meme format. There’s nothing not to love about this meme. Also Trekkie Bill posted about it so it must be good.

This next one is technically a post from @Comrade_Waluigi on X and not a meme but I thought it was funny so I decided to put it in.

2024 is a big year for Star Trek History. With both the Bell Riots and the Irish Unification happening, this year will test whether or not Star Trek truly has the clairvoyant powers of the Simpsons or not.

Next up we have a meme from @TheReviewGeek2 on X.

The Rock memes are probably the epitome of modern meme making. I love them so much. This meme is so wonderful. I never imagined that Spock’s features would fit so well on the Rock, but here we are. This meme has made me wonder about the concept of Vulcan bodybuilders and how wacky that would be.

Next up we have a meme from @trekcasttng on Instagram

I couldn’t explain why I found this meme so funny but the minute I saw it I actually laughed out loud. I suppose it’s the absurdity of it all that makes this meme so great. I also appreciate the irony of using an image from the real James Webb Space Telescope and not from Star Trek, as that is literally what space looks like.

Next up we have a meme that I found on the X account of @TheMemeCollect8, however, on the meme itself credit is given to the USA Space Force.

This meme gets funnier the more I think about it. I have no clue what the original painting was supposed to be of but I love it. The monk in this really does look like Obi Wan. Chewbaka’s face is also perfect. I know this is toeing the line as it is also a Star Wars meme but I decided to include it because I thought it was funny. The funniest and most interesting part of this meme for me is the fact that it is credited to the USA Space Force, the branch of the Air Force that conducts military operations in outer space and has a logo that looks incredibly similar to Starfleet’s (I’m not kidding look it up). I checked every social media I had access to and was unable to find the actual creator of this meme. It’s only been circulating through X recently so I assume it’s a relatively new meme. Despite that I cannot find the account responsible for making this meme unless they deleted their original post.

Sorry for dragging you down that rabbit hole with me, I spent a bit too much time researching the origin of that meme. Next up we have a meme from @Lyona5 on X.

This is another great use of a classic format. It reminds me just how weirdly Discovery fits into Star Trek canon. It’s funny how Sarek is a kind and loving Dad to Michael, a human, but is absolutely brutal to Spock for being too human.

Finally, we have the meme made by yours truly.

I know when Sisko talks about how great Gabriel Bell is he doesn’t know that he will have to take his place, however it’s really funny to think that every time Sisko talks about the Bell riots he is really just tooting his own horn.

Ok that’s all I have for you lovely people today! I’ll see you all next week!
