Nickelodeon’s Star Trek: Prodigy name and logo revealed during Star Trek Universe Comic-Con@Home panel
At yesterday’s Star Trek Universe panel, the title was formally announced for the upcoming animated series, set to air on Nickelodeon. Fans can look forward to seeing Star Trek: Prodigy debut sometime in 2021. The series logo was also revealed during the panel, along with a few details about what viewers can expect to see when the series makes it to television screens next year.
According to a joint press release from Nickelodeon and CBS Television Studios, Star Trek: Prodigy “follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation.” For now, anything beyond that is anybody’s guess, but it seems clear that Prodigy will “boldly go” where no Star Trek series has gone before - for kids.
Originally developed by Emmy Award-winning brothers Kevin and Dan Hageman, known for Trollhunters and Ninjago, the new series will be produced by CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will all serve as executive producers.
