A mugato makes an appearance in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 2 episode 3, “Mugato, Gumato”
AUGUST 31, 2021 - A classic Trek monster makes an appearance in the latest episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks, and the official preview for Episode 4, “Mugato, Gumato,” only keys us in to one important fact: Mugato dung is tangy, at least to Security Officer Shaxs.
Fans of Star Trek: The Original Series will remember the Mugato as the horned, gorilla-like creature that nearly killed Captain Kirk in the episode “A Private Little War.” Since then, the Mugato has clearly been listed as a high-priority concern for Starfleet, as the official synopsis for the episode states: “The U.S.S. Cerritos is dispatched to a planet to investigate an unexplained sighting of a dangerous Mugato.” In the preview, Mariner, Sam, and Boimler have joined Shaxs on the quest for the dangerous creature, with Shaxs demonstrating a, shall we say, less-than-sanitary means of tracking the beast.
