Report: New Nickelodeon animated series will be called Star Trek Prodigy
The upcoming Star Trek animated series for Nickelodeon appears to finally have a name.
Entertainment website Stevivor.com points to a Wall Street Journal article, which confirmed that the new series is to be titled Star Trek Prodigy. The series, produced by The Hageman Brothers of Ninjago fame, has been in the works for some time, but has been unnamed publicly up until now. The series will be the third animated Star Trek project out of the new CBS Eye Animation Studios, after Short Treks and Lower Decks.
It’s worth mentioning that while The Wall Street Journal calls out the name, it hasn’t been confirmed anywhere else yet, and there’s been no official word from CBS All Access. However, as Stevivor.com also points out, the name Star Trek Prodigy was part of a raft of trademark registrations by CBS back in 2019.
The last we heard, producer Heather Kadin said that the new Nickelodeon animated show - now known to be called Star Trek Prodigy - won’t be available until after 2021.
