Sir Patrick Stewart jokes that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will appear in Star Trek: Picard

Sir Patrick Stewart says he thinks he knows why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen to cut ties with the British royal family and move to Canada...and it might be his fault. But not really!

CBS News reports that Stewart appeared on CBS This Morning on Wednesday to promote the premiere of Star Trek: Picard. While on the show, Stewart, who is British, was asked whether he has been following the royal scandal. “Following it?” he replied. “I’m very much involved in it, actually, because people don’t know what lies behind this thing that has been happening and I happen to. The fact is, we’ve made them an offer to appear on Star Trek: Picard and they have roles to play.” He then made it clear that he was joking.

Stewart pointed out that Markle acted in Hollywood before her marriage to the Duke of Sussex, who is sixth in line to the British throne. He then added, “I am actually very proud of what they have been doing. It must have taken a great deal of courage and the future is unknown for them.”

Star Trek: Picard, of course, is streaming now on CBS All Access and other carriers around the globe.
