Sir Patrick Stewart asks Whoopi Goldberg to reprise her role as Guinan in Star Trek: Picard
It looks like Whoopi Goldberg will be returning to her role as Guinan in Star Trek: Picard season two.
Sir Patrick Stewart extended an invitation to the Academy Award-winning actor on The View yesterday morning. He was appearing on the show to promote the premiere of Star Trek: Picard, when he stopped and turned to Goldberg, who is one of the regular hosts of the ABC daytime talk show.
“I’m here with a formal invitation, and it’s for you, Whoopi,” Stewart said. “Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of Star Trek: Picard, and all his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season.” Goldberg laughed, and as they embraced afterward, Stewart implored, “Please say yes.”
Goldberg replied, “Yes.”
Whoopi Goldberg played the El-Aurian bartender Guinan on Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1988 to 1993, plus two Next Generation films, Generations and Nemesis. A highly-regarded actor and entertainer, she’s one of a very few people who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award during her career. She currently hosts The View, and is due to appear in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand.
While season two of Picard has now been officially confirmed, we’ve had no official word of when it will start production.
