STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Season 5 Gets Final Trailer
If you’re anything like me you’re anxiously counting down the days until April 4th when Star Trek: Discovery premieres. Recently, us Discovery fans were given a crumb of food to hold us over until the feast: the official Discovery season 5 trailer.
The trailer pretty much confirmed what many fans had been speculating but added on a bit more as well. We got our first look at what appears to be the mysterious artifact that is the center of the season. The prop design is phenomenal. From the other temples and symbols featured in the trailer, it’s clear that Burnham will be putting her xenoanthropology degree to good use.
We also got to see the “villains” of the season. They look super cool and I’m personally really excited to see how their arcs play out. They don’t look like any Trek species I can think of, however Discovery isn’t exactly known for keeping canon appearances so we’ll see.
One thing that really surprised me about the trailer was how prominently Tilly was featured. Last we heard of Tilly she had left DISCO to become a teacher. Now, it appears as though she has returned to Discovery for one final hurrah.
My favorite part of Discovery is by far the characters and their relationships with one another. I think the writers do an amazing job portraying compelling interpersonal relationships. Given this trailer, you can be sure that we will be seeing a lot of that in the upcoming season. The trailer definitely focused on friendship and the familial dynamic of the DISCO crew.
Overall, the trailer was quite good and it got me even more excited for Discovery season 5 than I was before (if that’s even possible).
