Star Trek: Discovery set building timelapse is a mesmerizing watch
Have you ever wondered what goes into building the intricate sets for a Star Trek series? Have you ever been curious about how the show’s creators manage to create an entire starship within the confines of a soundstage?
Well have no fear because StarTrek.com is here to enlighten you. They recently posted a whopper of a timelapse video showing off the construction of the sets of the U.S.S. Discovery, and you can watch it for yourself right now.
The total video is more than 30 minutes long, which is pretty lengthy considering that it’s a time-lapse. Fortunately, the video is accompanied by music from the Star Trek: Discovery soundtrack, so it’s a relaxing watch. The video starts with a nearly-empty soundstage with some plywood on the floor, and by the end, you can clearly make out the main bridge set, a number of corridors, and some other stuff I couldn’t even identify. They show a couple of different angles as well, some inside and above the bridge set.
It’s a fascinating look into “how the sausage is made” and well worth your time if you’ve got an extra half-hour to spare.
And, of course, you can see the sets in action in Star Trek: Discovery seasons one and two, now streaming on CBS All Access.
