Star Trek events: Thursday, April 23rd - Wednesday, April 29th, 2020
If you’re in the mood to hang out online with some fellow Trekkies, then make sure you check out one of these events:
You’ll be spoilt for choice this Saturday, because there are a ton of virtual events happening!
The Lambda Quadrant - Holocon, Saturday, April 25th & Saturday, May 2nd
The Lambda Quadrant, a philanthropic organization founded by a group of like-minded Star Trek fans, is hosting Holocon this Saturday and next, April 25th, and May 2nd. They’re partnering with Chase Masterson’s Pop Culture Hero Coalition to stream events on Facebook and Twitch, with live chats. Highlights of the events are Q & A panels with Masterson and fellow Deep Space Nine alum Nicole DeBoer, plus other panels hosted by Lambda Quadrant members and the Community Strong Identity panel hosted by Pop Culture Hero Coalition.
Callie Wright, The Lambda Quadrant’s co-founder, said of the event, “So many people are disappointed as con after con is being cancelled. We decided to do the best thing we could think of in this moment, to get together virtually with our friends and geek out over the fandoms we love.”
This week’s event goes to benefit the charity Sage USA.

Gaaays in Spaaace - Live Long and Be Fabulous, Saturday, April 25th
Also on Saturday, Gaaays in Spaaace are hosting a Virtual Celebration where you can “live long and be fabulous” from a safe distance. They’ll be broadcasting live on their Facebook page, at facebook.com/gaaaysinspaaace - and that’s gaaays and spaaace with three a’s each.
This Saturday, join guests Denise Crosby and Garrett Wang for the event, which starts live, at 8pm ET.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan online screening with Inglorious Treksperts - Saturday, April 25th
If you’re up for a more chilled event, then you might want to consider a watchalong - the hosts of Inglorious Treksperts podcast, Mark A. Altman and Daren Dochterman, are hosting a Paramount-sanctioned screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, via the watchalong website, CYA.LIVE (that’s C-Y-A-dot-live).
Altman is a producer and director, and the author of the book The 50 Year Mission: The Complete, Uncensored, Oral History of Star Trek. Dochterman is known for his work as visual effects supervisor on the director’s edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Together, they are not Wyld Stallyns, but they do produce Inglorious Treksperts, a weekly general-topic Star Trek podcast. After the movie’s screening, they’ll host a short, 15-minute Q & A.
You should note, unlike most of the other events this week, this Wrath of Khan screening is not free, but tickets are pretty affordable at just $1.99. Find out more at CYA.LIVE (that’s C-Y-A-dot-live).
The regular stuff
Next up, some stuff I’ve told you about before that are still going on:
These are the Twitter watchalongs:
#allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.
#TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of the Original Series every week, and
#StarTrekHour is a Q & A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.
And don’t forget the LeVar Burton Reads Twitter livestreams:
Mondays for kids at 9am PT
Wednesdays for young adults at 3pm PT, and
Fridays for adults at 6pm PT.
If you have an online event or gathering you’d like me to promote on the show, let me know! How are YOU getting together with your fellow Trekkies, without leaving the house?
Send me an email to let me know, at info@dailystartreknews.com. Or you can continue to use the hashtag #dstnevents on Twitter or Instagram, and I’ll re-share your event. Let me know what you’re doing to keep the fandom alive, even as we’re all mostly staying in.
