Star Trek Trivia Night: Friday, March 24

In celebration of the release on disc of season one of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek science advisor Dr. Erin Macdonald hosts a night of trivia and other delights. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Scum and Villainy Cantina, in Los Angeles. Check out the Twitter post for more.

GalaxyCon Richmond: Friday, March 24 – Sunday, March 26

Gates McFadden, Jonathan Frakes, Walter Koenig, William Shatner (Friday & Saturday), Terry Farrell, Nana Visitor, and John Rhys-Davies are scheduled to attend this latest GalaxyCon event, taking place at the Greater Richmond (VA) Convention Center. Head over to GalaxyCon for all the details.

Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures: Beginning Friday, March 24 through March 2024

Investigating Afrofuturist expression through art, music, activism and more, this exhibition explores and reveals Afrofuturism’s historic and poignant engagement with African American history and popular culture. The exhibition is at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, in Washington, D.C. and includes a uniform worn by Nichelle Nichols. Get all the details at the NMAAHC.

Hailing Frequencies Open Speaker Series: Saturday, March 25

Mary Chieffo hosts the latest in the speaker series from the Nichelle Nichols Foundation. Panelists include Dr. Erin Macdonald; Sydney Hamilton, Aerospace Engineer; LaShana Lewis, Business Leader; and Nichelle’s niece, Jasmin Brown, Physician. Up Close and Personal with Malcom McDowell: Saturday, March 25

Ivor Davis hosts this in-person and virtual conversation with Malcolm McDowell beginning at 6:30 p.m. PT. at the Museum of Ventura County. Head over to the museum for all the details and to purchase in-person or virtual tickets.

o   #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

o   #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

o   #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

·But wait, there’s more watch partying: Club IDIC hosts a weekly watch party and discussion at 6pm Alberta Time every Friday. The schedule and Zoom links are available at the Club IDIC Facebook page.

·To Proudly Go, a New York-based nonprofit, will be hosting Star Trek: Picard season three viewing parties each Saturday, beginning February 18. The gatherings begin at 6:00pm ET at the Barracuda Lounge in New York City. Tickets are free, and vaccination is required. The viewing parties / fundraiser benefits also include Star Trek trivia games, special Star Trek-themed drag performances, two-for-one drinks, fabulous Star Trek prizes, and merchandise. ·Virtual Trek Con presents The Main Viewer every Tuesday - a live discussion show on YT with occasional special guests and an open chat geared towards fan interaction.

·Disco Does DnD - livestream DnD game with DSC actors on Twitch, every Sunday at 1pmPT/4pmET.

· Join Grey Havens Philosophy and Outworld Brewing every first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. as they discuss the big ideas inspired by Star Trek. The gatherings are at Outworld Brewing, in Longmont, Colorado. Attendance is free, but an RSVP for planning purposes is appreciated at Eventbrite.

·And finally, there’s Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website. They meet twice monthly on the first Tuesday and third Friday of every month, with occasional pop-up meetings with Sid as his schedule allows. ·Ongoing through May 4, 2023, the Science Museum in London, UK is hosting the immersive exhibition Science Fiction: Voyage to the Edge of Imagination. Visit the Science Museum for more information and to order tickets.

·Ongoing through October, Starship Edsel is a Star Trek inspired farce set aboard the Federation Starship Edsel towards the end of the 24th century. It is based upon a LARP written and developed by Brandon Brylawski, who is also a producer and head writer on this show. Performances take place at the Otherworld Theatre, in Chicago.
