Star Trek heads to Comic-Con@Home with mega-panel featuring Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks and yes, Strange New Worlds
Comic-Con: San Diego began announcing the schedule of virtual panels this week for their 2020 convention, Comic-Con@Home. Virtual convention experiences have become quite popular as the summer continues and precautions remain in place to limit the spread of COVID-19. Star Trek fans have a lot to look forward to, as the franchise will be headlining the convention with another “Star Trek Universe” panel, like last year. The panel will include actors and producers from Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Lower Decks, as well as the upcoming, hotly-anticipated Pike, Spock and Number One series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
A report from Deadline followed the announcement of the Star Trek Universe panel, which begins Thursday, July 23rd at 10am PT. The panel will open with a welcome and overview given by executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin, with Deadline senior editor Dominic Patten moderating the “Trekverse” panels at the event. Kurtzman and Kadin will be followed by a virtual table read of Act 1 of the Discovery season two finale episode, “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2”. The reading will feature the entire Discovery cast, as well as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck and executive producers Michelle Paradise and Olatunde Osunsanmi.
Star Trek: Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan will serve as moderator for their portion of the event, and he’ll be joined by the cast of the series during the panel. It’s likely that viewers will have a chance to see an extended clip from the first episode of the series, which is due out on August 6th.
Rounding out the day’s mega-panel is the cast of Star Trek: Picard. Sir Patrick Stewart, Isa Briones, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Evan Evagora, Jeri Ryan, Jonathan Frakes, and Marina Sirtis will all gather to discuss the first season of the series and its much-anticipated return.
Comic-Con@Home is taking place July 22 - 26, 2020, and once again the Star Trek Universe mega-panel is scheduled for Thursday, July 23rd at 10am PT. Check out the full schedule of virtual panels at Comic-Con.org
