Star Trek Magazine features the bridge crew from Discovery in their November issue
NOVEMBER 17, 2020 - The November issue of Star Trek Magazine is available now in the United States and Canada, with a forthcoming December release in the U.K. This issue is taking a deeper look at the bridge crew of the U.S.S. Discovery. However, it focuses on the members of the crew that we don’t hear from quite as often. A report from TrekCore.com summarized the story, which centers around the full complement of the Discovery bridge crew, including actors Emily Coutts, Patrick Kwok-Choon, Ronnie Rowe Jr., Sara Mitich, and Oyin Oladejo.
As Star Trek: Discovery has progressed into its third season, the storylines have begun to open up for other characters on the ship, such as pilot Keyla Detmer, played by Coutts. Coutts weighed in on her character’s development, saying, “I think Keyla has to learn how to accept that she was someone who’d survived, and that was for a reason: she was meant to be a part of this new team.” She added, “Under Lorca, she had to learn a different rhythm on the bridge. She had to meet her new crew. And I think she’s extremely good at what she does, which is why she thrives in intense situations.”
While Discovery tends to be full of those “intense situations”, we will get to see an expansion of these minor characters moving forward. Ronnie Rowe Jr., who plays Lt. Bryce, teased upcoming events in the third season, saying, ”You’ll get to see a little bit more of all of us on a personal level, and doing things that aren’t necessarily just on the bridge, which is pretty cool.”
