STAR TREK ONLINE Announces Its Epic Latest Season, Including Legacy Cast Members and a New Borg Threat
Gearbox Publishing and Cryptic Studios are beginning 2024 with a Borg-type bang as they release the latest action-packed season of the popular MMORPG Star Trek Online, just in time for its 14th year!
Dubbed “Both Worlds,” the new season will continue the multiverse storyline from season 30. After a misunderstanding with the Tholians, the Reality Vortex has been torn. This is not good news, for the damage to the Vortex serves as a launching pad for the Borg. Together with Captains Ezri Dax (voiced by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Nicole de Boer) and Harry Kim (voiced by Star Trek: Voyager’s Garrett Wang), players will come face-to-face with the architect of the mulltiversal threat, the Borg King himself.
This thrilling new story will feature:
New Episode - “Sorpion’s Abyss”: The Aetherians report a new Reality Vortex in Fluidic Space and ask for help to close it, a mission that will force you to confront the Borg King.
New Task Force Operation - “Battle of Wolf 359”: Learn from the past to defend the present as you team up with 4 other players to relive humanity’s greatest battle against the Borg.
Season 31 Event - “King and Collective”: Play selected content to earn a new ship.
Elite Random Task Force Operations Feature: A new quality-of-life feature, helping players to score extra rewards.
New Lockbox: Loaded with goodies based on Star Trek: Picard season 3.
But wait, there’s more! With STO’s 14th anniversary fast approaching, Gearbox and Cryptic are getting ready for their latest anniversary event. They’re keeping the details under wraps for now, but promise more information in the coming weeks. Typically, the Anniversary Events consist of one new featured episode and a number of side episodes, with grand prize winners being granted a T6 starship of their very own.
Star Trek Online - “Both Worlds” will be released on January 23 for PC and March 12 for Playstation and XBox consoles. You can download and play the game for free. Stay tuned to DSTN for full coverage as the Anniversary Event details are announced.
