Q’s Winter Wonderland in Star Trek Online

Star Trek Online is helping you make the most of your time at home this month, with some special events and offers that will surely keep you busy in-game.

For those of you who have not yet tried Star Trek Online, first of all, where have you been for the last 10 years? But also, now is quite possibly the best time ever for you to download the game, since the amount of content available - including Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Discovery content - will keep you busy for weeks. And remember, Star Trek Online is free to play, and a fundamentally social game. Even if you’re not a heavy gamer, there’s something in there for you.

But of course, like many game companies are doing while much of the country and world are on lockdown, Star Trek Online is adding even more value to the game by holding special events and releasing new DLCs. And this week, in particular, is a big one.

Q’s Winter Wonderland

A special version of Q’s Winter Wonderland launches tomorrow, April 24th, and runs through May 4th. Normally only available around the winter holidays, Q’s Winter Wonderland is a special winter-themed game map, with lots of fun winter-themed minigames and tons of prizes to win. Star Trek Online’s website says the event is running simultaneously on PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4, and is basically an extension of the 2019 Winter Event.

Akira-class “Ships of the Line” bundle

If ships are more your thing, then there’s a good deal for you, too. Starting today, Star Trek Online is offering a new type of ship bundle called “Ships of the Line”. This new type of bundle is for purchasing all the versions of a given class of in-game ship, for a special price. The first in the series is the Akira Class, as seen in Star Trek: First Contact. This bundle, which contains three different versions of Akira-class ships, costs 6,000 zen, or around $60 in the real world. Two things, though: there’s an introductory 35% off offer, making the bundle just under 4,000 zen, or around $40. Also, Star Trek Online is fully free-to-play, and while zen isn’t super-easy to earn in game, it can be done.

Double XP promotion

Finally, if neither the Winter games nor a pack of shiny new starships floats your spaceboat, there’s a general double XP event on tomorrow, April 24th, all the way through May 15th. That double XP event is going on across all platforms, as well: PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. So however you like to play, now’s the time to start. Or, you know, just start yet another alt for the heck of it.

You can download Star Trek Online for yourself from startrekonline.com, from the Steam store, or from the Xbox or Playstation stores.
