Isa Briones as Dahj in the Star Trek: Picard SDCC trailer
Star Trek: Picard’s Isa Briones does her own stunts! Well, most of them, anyway.
In Picard, Briones plays Dahj, who, in the series’ first episode, must defend herself in a couple of high-intensity fight scenes. Speaking to Metro.co.uk at the red carpet premiere in London last month, Briones revealed that she needed a bit of work, but prior experience helped a lot. “Yes, I did [do my own stunts],” she said. “I had about a month of training, but I also have a background in martial arts so it felt kind of like coming back to a second nature.”
Some of the more strenuous stunt work did require a professional, however. Briones explained, “We had an amazing crew and an amazing stunt double who does a lot of the stuff that I can’t quite do, like the flipping, and the running upstairs - stuff that’s not quite my forte.”
Of course, you can watch Briones - and her stunt double - in the first two episodes of Star Trek: Picard, now streaming on CBS All Access.
