Star Trek: Prodigy stars Brett Gray and Ella Purnell discuss their pride in bringing Trek to a younger audience
OCTOBER 26, 2021 - Ella Purnell and Brett Gray, two of the voice actors on the upcoming series Star Trek: Prodigy, were interviewed by the website Collider.com in a video that dropped on the Collider YouTube channel on Monday. In the interview they spoke to what it’s like being part of a new Star Trek show that’s made especially for younger audiences.
“It feels like a really like iconic moment in Star Trek history,” said Purnell, who voices Vau N'Akat teenager Gwyn. “I have younger brothers and I feel really proud that this is the kind of content that they get to see. […] I think the messages of Star Trek are timeless and can be applied to any age, any generation.”
Gray agreed, saying, “It's awesome to be able to know that we're giving this to kids in this gorgeous cinematic animation and […] that they will get to grow up […] applying the lessons that they're learning from this to their everyday lives at school and in their social situations. […] It's awesome to be a part of bringing that to a younger audience.”
It’s not just about learning, though, as Purnell notes: “On top of the fact that it's beautiful, whimsical fun.”
