The Orville creator Seth MacFarlane honored with Television Academy Hall of Fame
The Orville creator Seth MacFarlane is to be inducted into the Television Academy’s Hall of Fame. The Television Academy announced the honor on Tuesday, along with four other honorees.
The Television Academy are the people who bring you the Emmy Awards. Their Hall of Fame honors those who have made outstanding contributions in the arts, sciences or management of television, either over a lifetime career or via singular achievements. MacFarlane is described: “The five-time Emmy-winning performer has built an extensive career that includes accolades as a writer, director, producer, animator, actor, singer, and comedian.”
Also being inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame are Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company; Geraldine Laybourne, who helped create Nickelodeon; Jay Sandrich, five-time Emmy winning director; and Cicely Tyson, whose acting career has spanned six decades and won her three Emmy awards.
Frank Scherma, chairman and CEO of the Television Academy said of the honorees, "These contemporary performers, content creators and executives have been pioneers and innovators in so many aspects of television, and they have had a profound impact on their art and on our culture. It's an honor to welcome this distinguished group of individuals into the Hall of Fame and to acknowledge their remarkable contributions, which continue to shape our industry."
The Television Academy’s 25th Hall of Fame ceremony will take place in Los Angeles, on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020.
