William Shatner won’t return as Captain Kirk, says his story is “pretty well played out”
William Shatner seems to have laid to rest any remaining hopes that he could appear in Star Trek in the future. Despite last June saying he “certainly would” return to the role of Captain Kirk - for the right script - on Sunday, the 88-year-old actor indicated that his time as Kirk is now truly over.
A fan asked Shatner on Twitter, “Now that they have the series #Picard do you think they’ll consider a series ‘Kirk’ for you? That would be pretty cool.” Shatner retweeted the question and answered: “No. I think Kirk’s story is pretty well played out at this point.”

Don’t worry, though, Shatner is doing plenty to keep himself busy. He’s currently in the middle of a world tour, which kicks off its European leg in Glasgow, Scotland next Monday. And just last month, Shatner told Dallas, Texas-based entertainment website Central Track that his next music album, a study of the blues, is in post-production and expected to come out soon.
