NOVEMBER 23, 2020 - Applications are now open for the Star Trek Command Training Program!

No, it’s not for actual Starfleet (sorry)...it’s for a special internship and fellowship program by the Television Academy Foundation, aimed at giving college students real-world production experience, while championing the values of Star Trek: inclusion, access, and diversity. Applicants will have demonstrated a personal commitment to diversity and inclusion, and as a part of the program will have first-hand access to professionals working on active projects in Hollywood. Think you want to apply? Here’s a few more details...

The Television Academy Foundation’s Star Trek Command Training Program internship was first offered last year for a cohort of two, this past summer. Originally intended as an in-person program, they adapted for COVID-19 restrictions, and the program went remote, which it will be again for 2021.

One key difference from the 2020 program is that the 2021 Star Trek Command Training Program will have two different offerings: a spring fellowship program and a summer internship program. The spring fellowships will take place April 5th to May 28th, 2021, and the summer internships will take place from June 21st to August 13th. Both programs will take a maximum of two students, and those participating in the intern program will be actively involved in production and earn up to $4,800. In addition to the program itself, fellows and interns will all join the Television Academy Foundation’s alumni program on completion, giving you access to career support from the Foundation for life.

Fellowships and internships are open to undergraduate and graduate college students at all grade levels, who can demonstrate “how Star Trek has inspired your personal commitment to diversity and inclusivity, including how this program will help you promote the voices and stories of underrepresented communities”. Applications are being taken now through January 19th, 2021, and participants will be announced from next March.
