New Star Trek: Enterprise series reportedly in production, raises speculation about a Captain Pike-led series
Today has been a really interesting day in Star Trek land. Here’s the reason: a long-rumored Star Trek Pike series looks like it may be becoming less of a rumor and more of an actual thing.
This week’s edition of the industry newsletter Production Weekly has a listing for “STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE (w/t STRANGE NEW WORLD)”. Which certainly seems to indicate that there’s some movement on a previously-unannounced Star Trek series that has something to do with the Enterprise, and - maybe - a strange new world. Since Production Weekly is a pretty visible publication and its font certainly looks legit, this week’s Star Trek listing has been taken by fans as a sign that a) a Captain Pike-led series is definitely in the works and b) it’s starting production in some capacity.
There’s no reason to believe that the Production Weekly listing is inaccurate, but it’s always worth remembering that nothing is ever really official until it’s official. And there has definitely been no official word on a Pike-led Star Trek series from CBS All Access. That said, back in January, Star Trek head honcho Alex Kurtzman did reveal that two previously-unannounced Star Trek series were in the works, and given the popularity of the Pike, Spock and Number One trio after Discovery season two, it is a reasonable expectation that a Pike show would be one of them.
If you’re a rumor hunter, there are plenty of them out there right now, as everyone loves to get the scoop on a new Star Trek series. As for Daily Star Trek News, I’ll make sure to keep an ear out for official word, and you’ll know when I know.
Until then, you can catch up on all the best moments from Pike, Spock and Number One in Star Trek: Discovery season two, and Star Trek Short Treks, now streaming on CBS All Access.
