OCTOBER 4, 2021 - When we last left the Star Trek: Lower Decks crew at the end of episode 8 “I, Excretus”, they’d just learned that valuing each other’s unique skills and working together is what helps them succeed. But in a new trailer that Star Trek on Paramount+ just dropped, Ensign Boimler seems like he’s back to changing himself to earn kudos on the ship.

In the 18-second spot for episode nine, “wej Duj” (“three ships” in Klingon), Boimler tells his friends over a meal that his next goal is socializing with a commander - which leads to him leaning into a lie that he’s from Hawaii (someplace he’s clearly never been), for the benefit of Commander Ransom. So we can expect at least some familiar Boimler attempts at brown-nosing...but then there’s the issue of the images and the title of the episode. Not a single Klingon ship in sight. You’ll have to judge for yourself whether the teaser and/or title is a red herring, and in the meantime, browse the new stills, below.
Star Trek: Lower Decks season two episode nine “wej Duj” streams this Thursday, October 7th on Paramount+, and on international carriers from Friday.
