Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard May Be the Series' End, But Will It Be the End of the Next Generation?
JANUARY 12, 2023 - After months of telling us that Star Trek: Picard season three will be the final season, Terry Matalas is now saying that, well, actually, maybe not.
We’ve heard him state repeatedly in recent interviews that he felt the TNG cast never got the final, solid send-off that they deserved, and that they still deserved to have. After seven seasons and four feature films, there was not a solid conclusion, the door had been left open. He said that his intention with season three was to do just that. To give the cast the sendoff that they’ve been left awaiting. However, as some doors close, others are left open, because, well,… maybe?
Matalas has said that he and the entire production team are very proud of the work they’ve done on season three, but there are still possibilities for more adventures, which is why he built the season with the possibility of a spin off series.
Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis and even the actor turned director, re-turned actor, Jonathan Frakes have all said that they’d like to continue the adventures with this crew. (I say toss Seven of Nine, Doctor Bashir, Quark and Chakotay into the mix and I’m set!)
Even Sir Patrick Stewart has said that if the quality of season 1 – 3 would continue, then he would be willing to continue along with it. Sir Patrick is even open to more motion pictures for the beloved crew.

He promises that his works will never contain profanity, gratuitous violence, or anything else that would prevent the entire family from enjoying them together.
He spends his days working in healthcare administration and in his evenings, in between plans for becoming “Lord Emperor of everything,” he types away at his keyboard letting his imagination out for the world to read.
He is fortunate to have a wonderful wife and two beautiful daughters. He currently lives in Goodyear Arizona with his wife.
