Star Trek Adventures Releases New Anthology, Strange New Worlds
The official Star Trek tabletop RPG game - Adventures - has just released a new book of missions. The new book, called Strange New Worlds, consists of nine new standalone missions with themes of mystery, the bizarre, and the unknown.
In a new interview with StarTrek.com, Jim Johnson from Modiphius Entertainment, makers of Star Trek Adventures, said that Strange New Worlds has a deliberately different tone from its predecessor, These are the Voyages. “The first anthology was a delightful mélange of standalone adventures that didn’t have any particular theme,” he said. “We wanted the second volume to be a bit more focused. Since exploring strange new worlds is part of the Star Trek ethos and Starfleet mandate, it made sense to use that for our first themed adventure anthology.”
In addition to a more themed approach to the collection of missions, Johnson also noted that this is the first time they’ve released Enterprise-era content for the game. He said, “I’m excited about the diversity of adventures presented in the book, and the fact that we were able to represent the three major Star Trek eras [...] with at least one adventure per era. This is the first game product we’ve produced for the line that provides an adventure oriented toward Enterprise-era gamers, so I’m excited to hear what fans and gamers think of the adventure and its design elements.”
To get started in Star Trek Adventures, Johnson recommends starting with the free quick-start PDF, available from Modiphius’s website. Then, if you like the game, you can graduate to the starter set and eventually the core rulebook. Oh yeah, and you’ll need some other players too. But as Johnson says, “That can be accomplished in person at local game stores, or online in a variety of venues.”
Star Trek Adventures Strange New Worlds is available to purchase - today - from your local comic or book store, or of course, online.
